A U.S. aerospace company runs a visitor’s center with a popular children’s exhibit. The visitor's center leader wanted to explore a concept teaching children the basics of programming an industrial robot. I designed the display and animated a short video using 3D graphics to get buy in from stakeholders.
A touch screen mounted to the front of the display features a sequence of movements. The user must reorder the movements so they instruct the robot to turn, move the manipulator to the ball, squeeze, and release the ball at the top of a ramp.
Once the user thinks they have a right answer, they hit the green play button and the movement sequence plays out on a TV behind the display and on the robot arm itself to help make the connection between the programming in the computer and the physical arm.
